Problem Our group discovered that immigrants are criminalized in our society. For example, one law (HR4437) makes it a crime for an immigrant to be here no matter what their status is: any crime is a felony.
Causes and effects One cause of criminalization is when members of dominant groups protect their economic and political interest.
Another cause is racism and fear of Latinos becoming a majority of political power.
Solution Our group wrote a letter to the Presidential Candidates telling them what we think about Criminalization, and how it could be handled.
Projects Our group created PowerPoints: What is immigration? The presentation provides causes and effects of criminalization, opinions of different people, and images. We also created posterboards that include tables, graphs and charts, analysis, definition, proposal, and an open letter.
